Because it seems the core of his power and ability remains untouched. And those are influenced by memories. A power deeper than this place and its effects.

I think if you wait a little longer . . . it'll come back.

( Basil reaches then, quickly wiping tears threatening to fall, offering a weak smile. )

Kel -- h-he left without remembering anything.

[ qifrey places a warm hand on his shoulder. ]

( For a moment, Basil stiffens at that hand, but he relaxes quickly enough. )

I... I will.

At least -- I'll believe in Kazuya. He's always been really strong in every way. If anyone can remember after forgetting... it's him.

[ hm. qifrey pulls back his hand. ]

( He reaches, wanting to take his hand. He hadn't meant to push him away. )

( He lifts the tea upwards then, drinking a little before setting it back down. )

What about you, Mr Qifrey? Did you have anything on your mind? Uhm -- is there anything I can help with?

Oh, I'm quite fine.

[ nothing much has changed for him. a blessing. a curse. he misses his students. olly. his work. but qifrey isn't one to fuss over that. ]

I know that it can get really rough here for everyone...

It certainly can be. We've all seen our share of troubles.

However, our connections help us overcome them as well. So I am fine. There is no reason not to be, when people like you are near.
